1969 50p blank-planchet error with accompanying paperwork from the Royal Mint. Originally launched in 1969 the 50p was the UK's first heptagonal coin introduced as part of decimalisation. The letter here dated 14th November 1969 confirms the authenticity of the piece and given this in the first year of manufacture it is reasonable to assume this one of the first confirmed error coins of the type. An interesting piece of numismatic history sure to be of interest to many error collectors.
