1849 Florin, Victoria. The so-called "Godless" florin was introduced into circulation but quickly rebuked by the population for omitting D:G or DEI GRATIA (By the Grace of God) from the legends with the reworked "Gothic" design introduced into circulation in 1852. A spectacular example that oozes eye appeal. Some light hairlines in obverse fields under magnification do not detract from a very much proof-like example with gold and rainbow tones. UNC or near, some reverse weakness of strike. [ESC 802, Bull 2815, S.3890]
